PACT (Brotherhood)

Become a soldier. Become a gas fitter. Stop being a girl. Man-up.

There is a traditional model of "masculinity" that society has adhered to for centuries. It is a form of social control…It means that our lives are already decided for us before we get to have oursay. We never cry, we all know how to use a drill.

PACT offers an intergenerational insight into brotherhood and explores how friendship can encourage us to challenge pre-determined rules and find our own way. We ask our nephews what it feels liketo hurt and our grandads about the difference between courting and shagging.

So we stand before you…exploring our own socially constructed identities whilst we wonder… Where do we go from here?
